What We Need Wednesday: Tomato Sauce

This month, Loudoun Hunger Relief is asking for donations of tomato sauce, whether canned or in plastic jars (please no glass, for safety and storage reasons). It’s one of those items that might seem small, but it plays a big role in the meals our families prepare every day.

Tomato sauce is incredibly versatile and shows up in dishes across so many cultures. From pasta and pizza to stews, rice dishes, and traditional family recipes, it’s a foundation ingredient that helps turn basic pantry items into something warm, filling, and familiar. For many of the families we serve, it’s not just about having food, it’s about being able to cook meals that reflect their culture, traditions, and tastes.

By donating tomato sauce this April, you’re helping provide more than just an ingredient, you’re helping families create meals that feel like home.

If you’re shopping this month, consider adding a can or two to your cart or checking out our Amazon wishlist. Every donation helps keep nutritious food on our shelves.
