Our partners at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB), headquartered in Verona, Virginia, traveled a few hours to see our new Services Center last month. It was wonderful to have them see the new space in person, talk with our team & our served community, and observe our new service delivery methods! They plan to feature LHR in their next quarterly partnership publication, and we’ll share the link when the article comes out.
BRAFB is an important partner to LHR, providing food resources, staff training, and opportunities to receive competitive grant funding. LHR has won grant funding from BRAFB over the years, ranging from $3,000 to $50,000 in any given year. The BRAFB network manages about 25 million pounds of food distribution a year in total, stretching from Verona to Charlottesville to Loudoun. LHR distributed 2.4 million pounds in Loudoun last year.
LHR is one of 12 direct service pantries/programs in BRAFB’s Loudoun service area. LHR provided 51% of all the service encounters with people needing food in all of Loudoun within the BRAFB network and distributed 66% of BRAFB’s allocated food for Loudoun County. LHR is particularly grateful to BRAFB for the incredible support provided during the pandemic emergency, when they made food available free of charge to all pantries in their network. We appreciate our food bank and their wonderful staff!
