Summer Food Resources 2026
A variety of food assistance resources are available throughout Loudoun County during the summer months. This guide provides information about free meal programs for children, food assistance organizations, and other community resources available to individuals and families in our area.
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) will be providing free meals this summer for students ages 18 and younger at fourteen locations throughout Loudoun County. The Summer Food Service Program provides funding for free meals to children during the summer months, when schools are closed, in order to ensure children retain access to nutritious meals when school is not in session.
Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Meal locations will be closed on Friday, June 19, and on July 3 (except the Sterling Library, which will be open on July 3).
Requirements:
- All meals must be consumed at the school or site location.
- Food cannot be taken off-site.
- Meals cannot be picked up by a parent or guardian to bring home
Virginia SUN Bucks helps eligible families pay for groceries during summer break, when most schools are closed. In 2026, each eligible school‑age child will receive a one‑time $120 benefit. Benefits will be added to your household’s SNAP EBT card. Eligible families who do not have a SNAP EBT card will be mailed a separate Virginia SUN Bucks card that works like a debit card.
Most eligible families are automatically enrolled in Virginia SUN Bucks and will not need to apply, including:
- Families who receive SNAP or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Students who have applied for and received free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
- Most children who receive certain types of income-based Medicaid, because their household’s income is under the eligible income level
Virginia Fresh Match helps families stretch their food budget by providing extra funds to buy fresh fruits and vegetables when they use eligible benefits at participating farmers markets and grocery stores. Families can also use SUN Bucks benefits at participating locations, and when eligible, those purchases can qualify for Virginia Fresh Match incentives, helping them get even more fresh produce.
