Meet 2026 Shining Star Volunteer, Nicole Acosta

We are proud to announce that our 2026 Shining Star Volunteer Award goes to Nicole Acosta!
Every year for volunteer appreciation week, Loudoun Hunger Relief recognizes one volunteer who has gone above and beyond their volunteer duties to help and support the neighbors we serve. This year’s award is proudly presented to Nicole Acosta for her efforts in helping during our fall client survey.
Over the past two years, Nicole has contributed more than 160 hours of volunteer service all while balancing the demands of school and preparing for the MCAT. Her commitment to helping others has made a meaningful impact across nearly every part of our organization. Whether at the Leesburg market, supporting mobile markets, assisting at the Sterling pantry, or helping in the office, Nicole has consistently stepped in wherever she’s needed most.
Nicole’s impact extends beyond day-to-day volunteering. This past fall, she played an important role in a research survey designed to better understand and serve our community. As part of the volunteer survey team, Nicole used her bilingual skills to connect with Spanish-speaking participants, helping ensure their voices were heard. Over the course of three months, she dedicated time to training, conducting calls, and following up with participants. Her efforts not only supported Loudoun Hunger Relief’s work but also helped connect clients with additional community resources.
Nicole’s dedication, compassion, and willingness to serve wherever needed embody the spirit of the Shining Star Award. We are incredibly grateful for all she has given to Loudoun Hunger Relief and the community we serve.
Please join us in celebrating Nicole and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.
