Loudoun Now: Church, Gaming Store to Hold Food Drives for Loudoun Hunger Relief

Several area church congregations and an Ashburn gaming shop are holding creative food drives Dec. 16 to benefit Loudoun Hunger Relief.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ashburn, Leesburg and western Loudoun are simultaneously holding a drive-through food drive at three locations from 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 16.

Their goal is to bring in much needed milk and eggs to the food pantry, according to Michelle Boswell, one of the organizers. “Hopefully, we can make a small dent in the need.”

Another food drive is planned at Huzzah Hobby in Ashburn. The all-day gaming event—the Foodmachine 40K Doubles Tournament—runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 at the store, located at 44927 George Washington Blvd.

Participants enter the tournament by donating cans of food; one can of protein for one ticket, three cans of vegetable for a ticket, or they can pay cash to enter. In addition to games, there will be a raffle and prizes, according to Acting Assistant Manager Austin Palatt.
