This year, Loudoun Hunger Relief is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 20 years of dedicated volunteer service from Lisa Karl.
Lisa’s journey with LHR began two decades ago, when she joined our board of directors, bringing with her a passion for addressing food insecurity and a heart for service. Over her nine years on the board—including time as board chair—Lisa played a critical role in shaping our mission, growing our programs, and advocating for the neighbors we serve. But her involvement didn’t end there.
Today, Lisa continues to be a regular presence at LHR, volunteering weekly in our market to pack nutritious groceries for families in need. Her hands-on commitment is a testament to her belief that access to food is a foundational need.
“When you’re hungry, nothing else matters,” Lisa says. “And being able to provide people with the food they need, we’re helping them improve other aspects of their lives.”
Before joining LHR, Lisa was already involved, supporting other organizations working to alleviate food insecurity. Her dedication has only deepened over time. Over the years, she has listened to countless stories from the people we serve—stories of hardship, resilience, and hope. These moments continue to fuel her passion and drive to make a difference.
Lisa has witnessed and helped guide Loudoun Hunger Relief through significant growth: from a small, community-based operation to a leading hunger relief organization. Her steadfast support and unwavering compassion have made a lasting impact not only on our organization, but also on the thousands of families whose lives have been touched by her work.
As we celebrate Lisa’s 20th anniversary with LHR, we are filled with gratitude for her leadership, her heart, and her service. She embodies the spirit of Loudoun Hunger Relief—and we are so lucky to have her as part of our community.
Thank you, Lisa, for 20 incredible years!
